Free trials: set the reminder before you forget

Trials are a good way to test a service. They only become a problem when the renewal date sneaks up on you. A two-minute routine fixes that.

Most trials convert into paid memberships automatically. That's normal and is stated at checkout. The problem is forgetting the date.

The two-minute routine

  1. Read the summary on the payment page: trial length, any charge at sign-up, and the price after the trial.
  2. Screenshot it.
  3. Set a calendar reminder for the day before the trial ends, with the cancellation steps in the note.
  4. Save the welcome email, which usually has your account and support details.

When the reminder fires

Ask yourself whether you used it in the last few days. If yes, keep it. If not, cancel from the account page or contact customer support.

Cancelling stops future renewals. Already-charged payments follow the provider's own refund policy.
